The Mill City Museum is a great place to learn about the history of Minneapolis and the flour industry. The museum is located in the ruins of the Washburn A Mill and features vintage advertising, antique milling equipment, and stories from the wheat farms. The museum also has a special exhibit on the packing floor of the former mill, as well as a walking tour of the city. What to See and Do Museum

Flour Tower

The Flour Tower is where you can go to learn about how Minneapolis used to be the flour milling capital of the world. You can ride an elevator up to eight different levels to see different parts of the old mill and hear stories from the people who used to work there.

Baking Lab

The Baking Lab is a place at the Mill City Museum where you can see how different types of flour are made, and taste some of the fresh-baked goods made with them. You might also see a baking demonstration while you’re there!

Water Lab

In the water lab, you will learn how the Mississippi River powered the mills in Minneapolis. The waterfalls of St. Anthony Falls were a major source of power for the lumber and logging industry, and later the flour milling industry. Observation deck

Directions and Parking

The Mill City Museum is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota near the corner of Park Avenue and South 2nd Street. The museum is accessible from the Blue and Green Lines of the light rail system via the U.S. Bank Stadium Station. The Metro Transit bus #22 runs on Washington Avenue, one block southwest of the museum. The museum is also located between two bike-friendly streets: South 2nd Street has a bike lane, and West River Parkway is part of the Minneapolis Trails & Parkways system.
